Project 4. Promoting Protection

The only way that breeding waders can be properly safeguarded in future is if legal protection is given to them. At Wiltshire Wader Group we make our voices heard on a range of issues relating to breeding waders and encourage our supporters to do the same.

There is currently a petition running (ending on the 23rd of March) to introduce a moratorium on the shooting of certain wading birds; including Snipe. The link can be found below:

Make your Voice Heard

One think we can all do is make those in power aware of our concerns and the issues that matter to us. This can take the form of your local MP or a Local Councillor. It is there job to listen to you and take action.

With Brexit looming on the horizon letting your MP know that you care about the protection given not only to breeding waders but also to our wider environment has never been more important. On a local level Councillors make decisions on areas to protect and develop, if you know a site that holds breeding waders let them know and they can maybe do something about it.
